To be honest, I was highly skeptical of air fryers when I first heard about them. The idea of “deep fried” without well, “deep frying“, seemed utterly ridiculous.
However, eventually I caved in, and we purchased an inexpensive model from Walmart to give air frying a try, and we are still using that exact same air fryer still today!
The rest, as they say, is history. As our new air fryer quickly became one of the most used appliances in the kitchen. It became our go-to appliance whenever any recipe called for deep frying and began seeing daily use, at first cooking simple dishes like Baked Garlic Parsley Potatoes, to increasingly more sophisticated dishes.
However, I quickly found that finding recipes online was a chore, many of the recipe websites were riddled with ads, pop-ups and subscription boxes – to the point where some are virtually unusable and I personally found it frustrating looking for new air fryer recipes to try.
All of which leads me too…
…our mission, after discovering just how difficult it was to find air fryer recipes online, recipes that were either buried somewhere on a massive recipe website, or possibly one or two here or there on a smaller niche recipe website there just wasn’t any “one place” to find quality air fryer recipes online.
And so we decided to create an online recipe website devoted solely to the air fryer and Air Fryer Gourmet was born!
And while you will see ads, we do have website maintenance costs, it is our mission to provide a clean, easy to use website with a minimum of amount of advertising and never any intrusive pop-ups!
So why choose air frying over traditional “deep frying”? Simply it is about making small, healthier food choices that can make big differences to your health.
Air Fryer manufacturers state that their air fryers use between 70% to 80% less fat than traditional deep frying. Let me repeat that, 70% to 80% less fat! With an air fryer you can easily cook most common “fried foods” in a teaspoon of oil, or even none at all!
And, unlike deep frying, Air Fryers do not deconstruct the food’s good nutrients and add on bad fats. For example, traditional deep frying processes destroys the beneficial vitamins and minerals contained in many fruits and vegetables.
Less fat, less oil and more natural nutrients that your body needs all adds up to a healthier alternative to traditional “deep frying”!
